Biography
Asenath KemuntoAsenath Kemunto is a self-taught and self-trained visual artist based in Nairobi. Born in 1994, she has honed her skills by continuing to create artwork.
Working on burnt and etched rubber from her home studio in Kasarani, Nairobi, she creates works through a process of etching, burning and painting on re-purposed rubber.
The inspiration behind her work is appreciating African traditional heritage, community settings and practices, adornments, festivals and their relations to their surroundings nature and other communities.
Asenath aims to present African tradition pride in its originality to this contemporary world, because identity promotes individual and communal development. She has participated in group shows at the National Museum affordable Art fairs since 2020, Mini gallery KICC, Uweza Art foundation Alliance Française. She is also represented by Almasi Art Agency, Diani.
