Atieno Sachy
Her fascination with metalwork developed under the guidance of mentors where she explored the intersection of traditional techniques and contemporary artistic expression. Influenced by artists like Peju Alatise, Wangeci Mutu and contemporary sculptors pushing the boundaries of the medium, she developed a unique style that marries traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic.
Her work explores identity, environment and culture. Each piece is an exploration of various elements such as form, emotion or movement as she strives to communicate a dialogue between nature, innovation and tradition. Atieno has been privileged to exhibit at Kenya Art Fair (2017), Kenyatta University (2018), MASK Awards (2019), Paza Sauti-’Poems for the Start of World Anthology’ (2020), One Off Gallery-’Under 30’ exhibition (2022), Art Mtaani exhibition #11(2023), Affordable Art Show (2024) among others. She is also represented by Almasi Art Agency, Diani.
