Christy Hannah
Her work is heavily influenced by her spiritual walk with Christ, nature, wildlife and waterscapes. She playfully incorporates textures, gloss and matte finishes in her work while varying the scale of her subjects.
Particularly inspired by the Impressionist painters of the 19th century, like Claude Monet and August Renoir, Christy says Monet’s Waterlilies may be one reason she got so fascinated with painting water. She has created a whole series of water studies, using multi-media and creating almost a sculptured effect as she layers her white acrylic paints into practically three dimensional textures of wavey foam and surf. She aims to bring serenity and vibrancy with her pieces while allowing the viewer to interact with her work. Her pieces have been exhibited in various galleries in Kenya. She had participated in numerous group exhibitions, including ones at Dusit D2 Hotel, McKinsey’s annual young artists showcase, and abroad, where she undertook an artist residency at the Ottawa School of Art. She was also featured in the 2023 Kenya Arts Diary.Christy has been represented by the Almasi Art Agency and currently shows at the Agency’s space in Diani.
