Kamau Kariuki
He paints in black and white, capturing pixels and has a way of bringing monochrome out in a timeless, captivating way that evokes feeling in all his paintings. His standout black and white pieces are prepared in painstaking detail by using acrylic paint.
Kamau seeks, with each of his compositions, to create relief sculptures (2D on canvas), that allow him to forge pieces from the impasto technique where the surface of the canvas becomes his playground as he maneuvers to portray traditional and symbolic African subjects going about their everyday activities. His work has been collected widely both locally and internationally and are a favorite among Kenyan collectors. He has represented Kenya in various cultural events under the ministry of foreign affairs, as well as showcased widely in both private, public, group and solo exhibitions. He is also represented by the Almasi Art Agency, Diani.
