Solomon Luvai
Solomon mainly uses charcoal in a thought-provoking, emotional and direct interpretation with a scribble textural effect that deepens his process, he prefers working from darkness to light as his pieces carry heavy layering of charcoal smudges intensifying his approach.
A heavy fixed additional touch of pastels highlights his work as he later towards the end incorporates bright background colour to neatly cover the messy outlines. His works have characteristics that embody deep African pigmentation that give his compositions the much-needed vibrancy and bold nature. Solomon also mentors a group of young upcoming female tattoo artists under a self-funding umbrella, all this was originated under the radar of his former mentor: veteran artist Patrick Mukabi. His works have been displayed at the Nairobi National Museum, Alliance Francaise, and have been collected privately. He is also represented by Almasi Art Agency, Diani.
