Held at the world famous, pearly white Diani Beach last weekend was Almasi Art Agency’s very first large-scale exhibition in Kenya hosted at The Sands at Nomad Boutique Hotel & Spa . An award winning, idyllic oceanfront retreat that is deeply committed to preserving Diani’s environment, ocean and culture for generations to come. The event, dubbed “The Sands Recycled Edition Exhibition”, was held on March 19 2022.

This is the Agency’s first exhibition in Kenya in which there were multiple installations on show.

The exhibition explored the theme of “the power of renewal” and featured a series of sculptures and artwork made from recycled plastic bottles, discarded Vinyl CDs, old newspapers, magazines, scraps of old homework pages, driftwood, egg shells and many other materials and objects of our daily life.

The exhibition was a gesture of respect for the environment and displayed how inspired artists have found a way to reuse discarded material in a very creative way that can reduce waste and save money.

The artwork on show was beautiful, fun and displayed amazing results. Our installations blended perfectly with the sights, sounds, light and ambient music that floated around the Beach Bar and terraces of the five-star Sands at Nomad that brilliantly hosted the event.

The exhibition was meant to be experienced subjectively and affect lovers of art of all ages in different ways depending on the time they entered the exhibition and how they move around the space.

Can plastic waste become a form of art? Oddly enough, but yes. You can reuse it to create something beautiful.
